shh!

Post: Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue saturation. Two more Layer adjusment for hue and sat: bumped blues...bumped greens. Used heal brush and some clone for imperfections in blue and one small area in the center of the leaf.Selected blue and did a total wipe out with Neat Image. Sharpen. Resize. OUCH MAJOR JAGGIES ON THE LEAF STEM....used a 5 pixel brush with the blur tool on normal at 50% opacity. Sharpen.

From the Critique Club:

Wow, two very easy shots inna row to critique. This is getting too easy!

This shot is very nice! There isn't much here not to like. Focus is spot on. DOF is definately not an issue since the subject is flat anyways. Love how there is very subtle cloud detail in the water. Love how the tones all go together so well. Only thing I would change is to clone out the bit of shadow/stem reflection at the left tip of the stem going down. It seems to catch my eye and suck it in.

Kudos on a nice shot!
yours
TC

Edited to add: I forgot the surface tension that many other commentors brought up. Very nice detail captured well!

I love this photo. I love how you can see the indention in the water around the leaf. I agree, this should have placed much higher. A great zen photo!

That wonderful surface tension around the edge of the leaf is just wonderful and lifts this shot into something a little more interesting.

Zennish in its simplicity. I think the colors are great, nice vibrancy between the blue and greey. The stillness of the water is highlighted by the leaf floating on the top of it. Lighting and focus is wonderful. I do wish there was a bit more negative space and the leaf was a little less centered. Its not exactly centered now but if it was a bit more pushed to one of the corners I think that'd make the image that much stronger. I gave a 6

I LOVE this...amazing colour and composition. The reflected sky is a little grainy and may have been fixed a little, but that's just me...superb 9
