Note: The title was a typo, I meant Gentle waters not gentile waters, but I am surprised this placed so well, thanks.

Taken in a creek near my home. Used a tripod with a cable release and the mirror lock up function. Was taken in the early morning with natural lighting, and foggy conditions. In photoshop: cropped, neat-image sharpening, two duplicated layers both using gaussian blur with multiply blending modes. then adjusted the curves, color balance, hue and saturation. Then I finished with a lot of sponging, burning, dodging, and cloning out stray leaves.

love this shot man, I gotta say though I think the 'spotlight' on the leaves could be a tad subtler, just to make it less obvious but still provide the emphasis

there are so many nice submitions. I motion for a get together of photographers. I am by no means one myself, but the opertunity to have an event and to swap ideas and pool your general knowlage would be, I think, a good thing. The opertunity to share points of view, to communicate your way of looking at things, to suck the whole visual potential out of the moment and photograph it all. To convay your experiances to the world in the most direct way possible. To be poets of the lens. To show the world life, where most of the rest of the world sees desolation, money or, 'just another tree' or 'just another sun-beam'. The importance of art is to comunicate, and the focus of photography is communicating the now. I think a good photograph moves as you look at it, is inspired to be more than ink on paper, but a living reflection of the universe. Please pass this on.

First impression. Serene, perfect dof and good composition even though I'd like the tree more in the lower right quadrant.
Thoughts: Then I looked at the title and, forgive me, busted out laughing. I don't use spelling when deciding a score. Are gentile waters different from heathen waters or buddist waters? The name of the challenge as opposed to the word in the title just creates such a vivid picture in my mind!

Love the photo. The lighting works very well here. I like the strong contrast between the subject and background. Personally I would have liked a little more of background. Goodluck.8.

This seems very japanese to me. I really like the use of the slow shutter to add softness to the moving water. I think that is what makes the image Zen.

Either a typo or a really ignorant title. Great picture but what an irritation.
