Chittakshana, in Sanskrit, means the moment when the "mind" ceases to exist and you can see the reality AS IT IS, with "no-mind". I feel this image reflects those moments (the delicate petal) in generally cluttered (the background) mind (or simply "mind").

I don't know if the photo is "serene" or not, but its my depiction of serene moments (of awareness).

The setup is simple - A flower petal on rough stone (brown in color in real) and some water sprayed on.

Postprocessing -

Crop, Selective desat of rock and shifted hue, Selective saturation of petal and glow to add "dreamy" feel to it, basic levels adjustment and curves. Saved for web. NeatImage with some sharpening.

Next day (from office) - Allright, checked my submission again from my office machine (with better screen) and the colors look a lot muted :( Can help much now - I do not have time, as well as resources (in office), to rework on photo. I'll take this as chance to let this feeling go and find a zen moment for myself :)

I feel that this shot should have performed better, I voted it up in my top few.

This is one of those pictures that shuold have done better than it did. As beautiful and simple as it is, it's lacking the DPC 'look.' The contrasting textures appeal to me in this picture. The roughness of the background, the smoothness of the petal, and the delicate sense that water drops give. Well done shot!

Nice. The water drops are outstanding, and the rule of third is wonderful.

A very nice photo, good job meeting the challenge. Nice use of minimal color and subject matter. Great job from the 'Great Job Baggie'!

Simple but effective, may have been tempted to crop the lower right hand corner out as IMHO it is slightly distracting but the colour of the stone? and petal work well together.

God, I love this. The soft/hard. Dry/wet. All in perfect harmony. 10

Excellent. I love the color contrast. I like the drops of water. I like the contrast between the silky smooth petal and the rough rocks. I think this does have a zennish feel though I wish the petal were a bit more cornered rather than edging so close to be centered. I do like the way you left that corner that drops off in the image, it helps break up the large stone mass and saves it from being just a boring petal on a rock. I gave a 7
