Arlington Row in Bibury. One of the oldest villages in the UK. I am unsure of the dates for these houses but the church dates back to around 750 AD.

Levels and adjustment layers used to create the tone.

meant to comment on this during the challenge, but never managed to get back to it. So many shots in this challenge were simply of old things - and on the face of it, so is this: but your toning, and the absence of people, or to my eye any sign of human activity after the building of these houses, puts it into a more meaningful category - saying something of the loss and other feelings inherent in the title of the challenge. Good work.

nice composition and idea. Natural colors would probably have looked better.

My only comment here is the sky looks a little 'blown out'. The village turned out nice - looks like a painting.

I've seen a few villages like this throughout my life, and as such it does bring back memories for me. The sepia ages it well, although I would have liked a little more contrast as the tonal range is all very similar, except for the foliage. Compositionally it's good and the line of cottages naturally leads the eye up to the others on the hill. A very nice shot.

Nice picture, and but for the TV aerials you got away with it. At least there weren't any satellite dishes.

Beautiful shot.

I can't help but wonder where it was taken. It looks very like a little place I went to years ago by a river in the Cotswolds (spelling?)
