This monarch butterfly spent about 2 weeks in its chrysalis (cocoon). On the last day you could see the butterfly folded up within the chrysalis. It emerged in a few minutes then rested as its wings expanded, inflated and hardened.

Beautiful shot! How long did you have to wait to get that shot? Beautiful color, composition and subject I give it a 10, I'm sure this will finish somewhere at the top!

Good capture and composition. The colors and contrasts could be enhanced a bit.

Not the most beautiful photo of this type(colors seem desaturated) but what a find. Points for catching this.

Great work to capture this emerging. DOF really isolates the subject, nice lighting. If the color were some how more vibrant it would have added a lot to this shot.

Wow! what a powerful image. Not sure how you did it but the background matches the butterfly's color nicely. Simple and effective. I like it. Jacko. 8

I really like this shot, but a bit more contrast would have brought out more colors of the greens and yellow/orange butterfly.

Nice subject caught at an interesting moment. Might be nice if the background contrasted a little more with the subject, but a good shot.
