Some of you have asked how I did this. Its a Paint Shop Pro effects filter called Sandstone. You can play with the settings and get lots of fun effects. Just remember its not legal for DPC entries.

This is taken from the advanced editing rules:

"Filters: At your discretion, you may apply filters to your photo, in whole or part. (Be aware that extensively altering the "look" of your photograph with an "effects" filter is often not well received by voters.)"

From what my english permits me, i think this means you CAN apply filters!

You should not have been disqualified?

Not sure I understand the placement of this image. It was my highest rated image of the bunch. I could see this on my wall. Excellent!

i will have to beg to disagree that this entry is over-processed. this is advanced editing which allows this, and the theme is abstraction. i think this entry fits the bill to a t. should have been in the top 10.

You're gonna get told it's overprocessed, I'm pretty sure. But the end result is pretty darn cool.

Yes! Here's a wonderful abstract. Great color, well exposed and focused. Compositionally you probably could have come in even tighter, but it's still a very fun image to look at. Good luck.

too photoshoppy. the abstraction is there, but the original photo is barely discernable. overuse of filters killed you here. 1

Obviously kiwi fruit, but the extreme USM (I guess) give it an unworldly and very abstract look. Nice!
