My goal was to show myself sleeping in since it's Father's Day. The light source was a table lamp behind the camera and to the right. I hope it looks like daylight streaming in through a window, illuminating primarily the card. At the same time, I wanted most of the room to be dim, as if I still had the shades drawn. Wonder whether people will think it's 10 pm instead, and my kids exhausted me.

I tried using my daughter's actual card, but the dimensions weren't right, so now you can see my stunning artistic ability. :)

The biggest problem was remembering to reset the clock each time! Looks like I missed it slightly on this shot ...

I'm sure there's more I could do to make it "pop" more, but I'm out of time and ideas.

Editing: USM, curves to lighten it up, minor crop, cloned a few spots, burned the alarm hand, save for Web

I like the concept a lot. But the card bothered me, because it was obvious from the handwriting that it was an adult, and that they were trying to mimic a child (the backwards D). It would have been better to me to either use a child's handwriting or just to make the D the right way so that the card would be consistant - either would be just fine. I like how the bright colors of the card are contrasted with the rest of the shot.

Might have benefited from a shallower DOF, and a boost in contrast - the image seems a bit dull tonally. Clever set-up though.

what I like:
fun idea well executed. I think the card really makes the picture.

What I don't like:
too dark in the background. While I like the card I think it takes up too much of the picture. The person sleeping doesn't seem like they're in a very natural position which makes it seem a bit staged.
