Was very excited about visiting Anna Maria, FL during a week around July 4th, 2006.

Every afternoon this massive dredge ship chugged up from the south and inserted itself directly below the sunset.

In disappointment, I took a few shots; just to document the vacation. When I got home and looked at the images they seemed sort of interesting; especially the way the sunlight reflected up from the water, onto the ship.

Thanks big Dredge Ship!

Hot photo! Very nice capture and great colors! The sun/sky are just how they should be. Very nice Roxanne!

This shot works in so many ways. You've composed it well and exposed it wonderfully, I like how the reflection makes this look like the ship is sailing on a sea of lava. The tones really set this off in the viewers eye. I can only imagine what this would look like as a print.

another take on this one from the original without full editing.

In response to PM.

I just noticed that there are a few things that were done differently in this pic.

I think I'm going to have another stab at this after I get back from work.

Definitely very nice and I agree with the comments about the light in the haze on the water's surface, but I will add appreciation for the reds in the water...

I'm having a little trouble with the saturation though. I think that the saturation is just pushed a tiny bit too much and has caused clipping... Either that or it's .JPG compression...

Not so much of a gripe as a 'be careful that the original is clean'...

Great capture. Love the color tones and that line of red reflecting in the haze between the sea and the hull of the ship. I agree with yakatme - that really makes the shot. Well done.

I like this one the best also. In addition to the apparent size of the sun, what really sets it off and makes it interesting is the line of red reflecting in the haze between the sea and the hull of the ship. I really, really like that part of the photo.
