I took this picture in the back alley of one of my local coffee shops. This has been SO much fun to shoot, since random people kept walking through the alley and looking at us like we were crazy. A woman actually came up and said, 'Hey, what are you doing? Don't you know that that is unlucky?!' Hehe! So much fun! AND I got to break a mirror with a brick! I think we need more challenges that require breaking and / or burning things... hehe!

In photoshop:
Resized
Converted to black and white
Increased contrast slighty

Double trouble...I thought of trying to do something like this with a black cat thrown in. Your take on it is much better than mine would have been (had I even tried). I like the B/W and the angle. He really looks oblivious as well. Very nice.

This is one of the better photos in this challenge. There is a lot going on here, and the more one looks at it the better it is appreciated. In short, those who look at this quickly will vote it lower than it deserves.

I like this tilted composition, it adds tension to the scene. I also like that you've encorporated too superstitions into this at once. I do think though that this is not nearly as sharp as it should be, so that could be something you work on. Since you clearly have good ideas, paying a little more attention to the technical aspect will make your work stand out from the rest.

The subject of the photo, deep in thought, not aware of the bad luck he's about to bring upon himself by walking underneath the ladder. He is framed perfectly between the wall and ladder, good job. But I don't know why you've included the broken mirror which doesn't seem to have anything to do with the story you've told in the right side of the picture.

Don't you have to be the one that actually breaks the mirror to have bad luck? :^) The guy walking is a ways off yet. I think more impact would be had to have staged him a bit closer like his next step or two was going to make him run into the mirror and ladder.

As for the image, the B/W theme is good. The tonal range is flat. I think some work on contrast and levels may help this image some. JMO of course.

Good luck in the challenge.

Nice set up. Like the chaotic angles.

Excellent way to tie the themes together! :) My only possible suggestions for this shot would be to use a much deeper DOF to bring everything into focus and to maybe bring the contrast up just a little. Great shot though. :)

angle really doesn't add anything to the composition for me.

Hey, the best so far! Gotta work on sharpness, though.

It's fine that he might be walking through the ladder without knowing, but he didn't break the mirror did he? The DOF also could be wider with a little more sharpening done.

Maybe also a reflextion of a black cat in the mirror, and some spilled paint and and and... its ok. Doesn't wor for me though.
