I struggled with adding story to a challenge on tools. So I played around with this idea. I want it to feel dark...to have an emotional double meaning with the title.

To create the shot I used a cheap multipurpose screwdriver and set the screw in a piece of pine. I lit it from the top left, then played with curves til the wood came out how I envisioned it. I actually wanted the metal part of the screwdriver to show up a little more, but it was always too much and gave to much light to the scene. In the end I decided that often times when you feel screwed it's not clear who to blame...so this works pretty well.

I'm really interested to hear the comments on this one to see if I communicated what I meant to.

Like the design in this shot. Perhaps too little detail to hold interest though. Nice concept.

The metal bit on the screwdriver is hardly visible, it´s a good idea though, the lighting is maybe a bit hars.

really cool shot. it took me a while to see that the screwdriver is actually connected to the screw...but maybe that's why i like the shot so much...it makes me look at it longer than most. My only thought is of the negative space on the right. Even if you cropped it out to match the neg. space on the left - the positioning of the tool would still be in a good spot off to the side...but maybe not. I'll quit talking and just give you a much deserved 9 =`)

Great idea but would have liked to see shaft of the screwdriver

Wonderful idea, but the black background overwhelms the screwdrive a little too much.

I see what you are trying to show, for me it just doesn't work. The picture is too dark to show sufficient contrast between the handle and the screw. And even if the picture follows the rule of thirds, that does not mean that a full black 2/3 is interesting.

Makes me think of a ballet danser. I like the minimalistic approach.

Interesting idea with the way you framed this. Lighting is good enough to highlight the screw and part of the driver, but the whole center part disappears and I'd like to see it.

Great concept,, Needs alittle tighter focus to be a 10,,, 7 for creativity and composition.

Good use of negative space but I would like to see some more hint of the screwdriver shaft
