The main criticism on my "In The Garden" Hummingbird shot was that I should have cropped in on the hummingbird. I did not want to crop the image because I didn't want to lose resolution. It is very difficult to get close enough to a hummingbird in flight to get a good sharp picture, but I feel I have accomplished my goal here. In order to get the feeling of movement of the wings I used a shutter speed of 1/400 and a flash. I prefocused the camera, camoflouged myself with a green tarp with a hole in it and waited. I took over 100 pictures and got several that were good but this one was the best. The only disappointment was that I wished it were a male ruby throat rather than a female. The males are much more colorful. I hope you all enjoy this picture. :)

Great catch and a good choice of shutter speed! You could have brought up the bottom end of your levels a bit, this would have darkened the sky.

fantastic shot. fits the challenge. nice way to get a look at a tiny creature that doesn't stop moving long enough to really see details. 8

Wow. You have two totally different types of repetition going (the tail feathers in the traditional sense plus the beating wings) plus you have a wonderful photos of a hummingbird, which I know are extremely difficult to photograph. Awesome. A little more room to the right would be perfect (but even just getting the whole bird in the photo is an achievement, so I'm just nitpicking) Great job, even down to the catchlight in the eye.

Very clear picture of the hummingbird body and the wings flapping leads to a great shot.

Great capture! Maybe neatimage could have been used to clear the little grains if you like. Fits the challenge like a glove.

Very good capture of a hummingbird. Lord knows I've tried for this shot and have never succeeded. It's a creative one you have here.
