I really enjoyed this--it should have been higher
07/29/2002 09:47:00 AM
This shot it really cool, it should have placed much higher. Fog definitely has texture, just walk or drive through it!

beautiful shot. good colors. suggestion: give your dalmation a red collar if yuo reshoot this to add that little color accent.

missed the texture part; nice shot of dog though

Good shot! The composition is great on this photo. Several lines - sky meets water, water meets beach, etc. Although the 'texture' is not as right in your face as some would expect, it definately does have lots of textures going on. Great work. 9

In all honestly, I think the photo would've been better if you cropped the top and showed more of hte beach. that has a nice grainy texture, and it wouldn't put puppy so close to the bottom. karmat

Nice picture, but I don't feel the texture...
07/26/2002 12:21:00 AM
I almost wish you'd been farther away do the dog's imae woud be softened by the fog.
07/25/2002 11:26:00 PM
a hard subject to capture.
07/24/2002 11:15:00 PM
I like your idea, and you captured it well. You're going to get nailed to the wall because it isn't a 'real' texture (so they say), but what do they know?

Incredible work…where can I purchase property like this…

Total Score6

For those that are just learning, like me.

Composition: Scoring in this area is based on basic composition of a picture and includes the rule of thirds, balance, cropping, and curved and diagonal lines. Subject matter that does not lend itself to the picture or otherwise unwanted is also considered here.

Originality: Scoring in this area is based on pictures or concepts that I have seen, as well as how much effort you have invested in the picture. Usually a little something that sets it aside from a snapshot. Does it make me want to come back for another look? You know things like that.

Technical Aspects: Focus, exposure, lighting, and other special effects (done by the camera), and post processing are all considered in this category.

Meets Challenge: This is based on my interpretation of if you, have/have not, met the challenge. This is fairly simple but quite important for this site.

There are many sites that can give you assistance in achieving better skills in photography, but I think the best way to learn is to take pictures and show them to other people. Believe me when it is a good one you will know it.

Good luck!

What a great pet shot! I just love this! Makes me want a dog so much.
07/24/2002 03:36:00 PM
This is a good capture of the dog in motion - but I wish he was further in the frame and not running off to the right side as it draws my eye to much to that direction. This was a stretch for me in if it meet the challenge. I originally scored it a 4 - I would rather have seen a shot of the wave meeting the shore where more texture was visible, but I checked with my local weather guru who assured me that fog does have texture so I am bumping up the score to a 6.

10. i love the mood, i'm not sure that many will like this.. therefore, 10.
07/24/2002 01:13:00 PM
I am more interested in the texture of dog. I generaly like to see subjects that are moving, moving into the frame. ie: if the dog were placed at the left of the frame and running up the shore.

I love this photo - but I don't feel it portays texture all that much. Beautiful composition though.

This is a cool photo but the title ruins it for me... Luckily, I don't vote based on the photo title :) Your title is pointing me to the fog in the photo. the dog here has perfectly good and strong color texture. Compositionally, this photo is quite nice. If you had tilted your camera down just a tad to bring the dog up a little more, I think the composition would have been perfect :) Great shot = 8 - jmsetzler

I never thought of air as soft until I saw your picture
07/23/2002 12:06:00 PM
I have always loved the texture of fog and I am very happy to see someone willing to take the risk of submitting a photo of it. You are braver than I am. I hope you do very well.

I like the shot more than I like the challenge concept, texture of fog is interesting but that is hard to capture on this type of a shot vs a forest. The san has an interesting texture to it. The water washing up on the shore would of been a great shot.
07/23/2002 08:14:00 AM
Its a good effort considering the unphotographable nature of fog. Having a subject in the picture is good, but I would prefer something to do with the fog, like a lighthouse.
07/23/2002 02:43:00 AM
i'm sorry, but i see no texture in fog
07/22/2002 09:46:00 PM
Image needs to be rotated CCW some - the horizon isn't level.
07/22/2002 06:54:00 PM
would work better if the fog were affecting the subject better - if you had a shot of something IN the fog...pretty shot though
07/22/2002 05:24:00 PM
Beautiful composition--I really like this

Very nice work.....lovely color. Kee

I see the textures! This is a wonderful photo. The fog and gritty sand really make the fella pop. 10
07/22/2002 12:33:00 PM
I never really thought fog had a texture but it actually creates contrast the brings out other textures. well done, nice photo.
07/22/2002 11:38:00 AM
a few textures here! Dog is cute.
07/22/2002 11:27:00 AM
It's the dog's b@LL0(K$...... UK residents may understand this best.
07/22/2002 11:23:00 AM
Beautiful photo. This is a picture where I think having your subject moving off frame works. Because it shows us s/he's coming out of the water. As for meeting the challenge.... well... you'll still get a good score from me but I won't be able to give you a 10.
07/22/2002 06:43:00 AM
aaahh this defenitely shows that texture can reflect a mood.
07/22/2002 12:42:00 AM
Even though you cleverly called it the texture of fog, all the emphasis and action is on the dog and the foam near the beach. Originality: average. Technical: good. Emotional impact: average. Meeting subject challenge: so-so. Overall, a pleasant img though.
