Thank you for that link! It helped a lot.

I took this shot at the Valley of fire in Nevada state. About an hour outside of Las Vegas.

i love this photo, but one thing bothers me, it is not in good lighting, and you really have to look hard to see all the elements, a bit to dark for my taste, though i know you prolly were going for that extra something to make it have more an impact, perhaps lightening this up a tad would help it, just the same it did catch my eye, and it is desolate.

I like the dark contrast. IMHO this darkness makes it fit the challenge better.

Ahh...Why did you make it so small? I bet it looks great when it's bigger.

Blurred, blocked shadows, uninteresting sky occupies much of the photo. Good idea but could have been better executed

The first thing that strikes me about this image is that it is way too dark.

comp ok, blacks too deep, whites just not there. In a b&w pix, to be convincing, you need to have texture in your pure blacks and pure whites. Overall, it is hard for me to give a proper critique on the lighting, dof and texture due to the underexposed image.

Always take the time to experiment with exposure even if it takes a couple of days to get it right.

These challenges are not a race to see who can upload an image first, but to see who has a handle on their forethought, and settings of the machine.

Somewhat lacking in conrast and detail to be easy to see the symbolism.
