Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: 30 Seconds or More (Basic Editing III*)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Lens: Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
Location: My Bedroom
Date: Jun 17, 2006
Aperture: 7.1
ISO: 100
Shutter: 30
Galleries: Family, Self Portrait
Date Uploaded: Jun 17, 2006

Set the light in the room to the lowest level on the dimmer and worked out what aperture i needed for a 30sec exposure.
I wanted an image that captured love which I and my girlfriend spent ages trying to achieve, one of the shots I thought was an outake actually worked for me but more as a "what did I do wrong" type image.
Postprocessing - did levels and sharpen - basically as it came off the camera

"Well if you don't know, I'm not gonna tell you!" ;-) Nice idea.

Well, for starters, you brought your camera into our bedroom.

Funny idea, good acting. Amazed if you held still that long.

Sexy but looks posed. I admire you trying to catch this extremely awkward moment on film. I would maybe having her turn completely away from you and maybe try to adjust the WB so everything doesn't have that orange glow. (what was the light source?)

The problem is your shooting 4's and 5's and she wants a man who can give her 6's and 7's. If your not careful she may be vacationing in Iceland soon. Please, for the sake of your relationship learn just a wee bit of photoshop.

there could be a million answers to that question...

you certainly kept still for 30 seconds...

The lighting is flat and sepia toned. Was this a conscious choice? Greater contrast and multiple light sources would address the flat light. I am in awe of the models' ability to hold perfectly still for 30 seconds or more. But in the end I'm not resonating with the photo. Guess you didn't get lucky w/ me, either.

Interesting take on the challenge topic, wish it were not so yellow, you have a serious color cast on the entire pic.

how did you two lie there for 30 seconds without moving? This image isn't that visually stimulating to me. It doesn't seem to portray the message without the title.

Good! I like your simplistic approach, the title, etc... Voting it way above its real photographic assay - you earned it!!!!!

Interesting choice for a long exposure image when it is hard to remain still for so long. Composition and framing are fine but the yellow/red color cast is too strong. If you uses Hue/Sat and selective color for color correction colors will be mted but look better. But then you can desat completely with another hue/Sat layer then add a last Layers adjustment you can make a really decent B&W image out of this. That might fit the theme of this image much better.

Awesome photo, although it seems that "30 seconds or LESS" would be a more fitting category...

What is '30 seconds' about this that couldn't be done with the lights on?

Oh, and I think the guy fails to understand the emotions she truly feels, and thus she feels he doesn't return in full the same commitment. ;)

I don't really get why you needed the long exposure here. You did quite a good job staying still for 30 secs though!

Nothing makes my day like humour, and this certainly is fits the bill.

This image does indeed in my opinion meet the challenge criteria, but the white balance seems a bit off. I could be that you had the wrong settings set on your camera.
