Hello from the Critique club, my name is Jon Rowe, and i will be looking at your image this evening :)
Composition/Lighting : what a beautiful model. i do not doubt his is your most luxurious item. i think the lighting could have been a bit too harsh, unless you were going for the high key look, which is great, but maybe a little bit too much of a blow out at the top. composition-wise, i think it's too centrally located. maybe move her over to the left, w/ the left crop being about a third of the way in, about at the start of her hair. better movement for this photo, which is already great!
Challenge : i think this fits the challenge to a degree, but not fully. the photo and the title fails to scream indulgence to me. i can see that you're trying to portray that you indulge yourself in your "luxurious item", but as a photo it doesn't tell the story fully. keep on shooting, with a great photo like this, you're sure to bring your scores up greatly, and what a good score it was to begin with. they will get better, i forsee:)
Conclusion : great shot, i'm really looking forward to seeing more of your work. to add photos to your portfolio, just simply go to "My Home" at the top after logging in, and then go down and click on "My Portfolio". from here, you can add regular photos to your portfolio, as well as prints if you decide to sell prints in the future. private message me if you have any problems adding photos to your portfolio, and i'll do all i can to help.
Keep on shootin!
Good luck on your future challenges:)

The high key look is good. The crop should have been much tighter on the sides IMO |

And probably your most expensive...Nice soft focus but the reflection at the top of her head detracts a bit. |

Her expression misses the point for me - this is the look my wife gives me when I haven't taken out the rubbish for the second week in a row, so it just slightly misses 'luxurious'. I don't like the effect you've gone for in the processing. With the softness and the blowouts, you've lost the focus of the image, and it's hard to look at without thinking my contact lenses are playing up. The original shot looks well framed and well focused though. |

Great execution. I hope she won't notice the challenge description ;) " ... photographing an unnecessary luxury ..." . |

No doubt you are telling the truth. |

You own a woman .. good on ya. The picture is soft .. the title inappropriate as a person can not be owned ... and I am not sure that the black and white choosen benefits the picture ... with the colour of her skin and eyes may be have added to the shot. |

They do cost a lot to maintain, don't they? My suggestion would be to lighten the shadow under face. |

the overexposure is nice but the bright hair distracts me from the face a bit more than i'd like |

Did you just call your girl an "item"? Thank god you didn't go for "thing".

You mean the woman is your item?
I strongly object to that. |

Can a person be an "unneccessary luxury"? I'm not convinced this meets the challenge. But setting that aside... you have an attractive model and the sepia toning is nice, but the lighting is too contrasty and has washed out all the detail in her skin, along with the blown out highlights in her hair. Softening and reducing the strength of the overhead lighting would help control the contrast, remove the obvious shadows from onder her chin, and bring back some detail and texture into her face without sending her hair into complete shadow. |

The hair highlight is too strong it makes her look like she has a gray patch. |

I disagree with calling a beautiful woman an item. |
