This was an assignment for my study. I had to take 3 photo's and make a photo manipulation of these.
Pretty hard, because I've never done this before.

Took a photo of the lemon, after that one of the kiwi, in the same position, after that one of the pepper (paprika?).
Lighting: flash with umbrella.

After that I cut the kiwi out of the photo, rotated it, and erased the rest of it with an opacity of 50%, so I was able to see what I was doing. Same goes for the other half of the kiwi.

The pepper-thing was hard, because the lemon was too close to the border, so I moved the right lemon more to the center. After that put the pepper-thing to the lemon. Piece of cake ;) Added a shadow at the part which touches the lemon to make it look more real. Used gaussian blur to make the DoF work better.

That's about it!

honestly you should have entered something like this in fruits and vegetables and you could have took the blue away from scalvert.
GREAT idea, and flawless execution.

Wow, this is impressive work. Until I read your notes, I thought this was some kind of weird hybrid fruit. Very nicely done. Added to favorites.

Excellent work, though at first I didn't realise the stalk was not a lemon stalk. - I just thought it looked a bit odd.

Awesome job! Now I'm thinking that fitting a watermelon inside a banana peel wouldn't be so tough anymore. :)

EXCELLENT work. You should be proud!

The fact that depth of field blurriness of the kiwi and lemon in the front match almost perfectly is great.

@ JP: thanks a lot!

@ jaded: the kiwi was a bit bigger then the lemon, but that was a good thing. I used an opacity of 50% so the kiwi got transparent. that way I could erase the rest of the kiwi (by hand, yes ;)) so it would fit into the lemon. after that set the opacity back to 100%.
maybe there's an easier way, but I don't know.

how in the world did you do this? seriously. im EXTREMELY intrigued. if you wouldnt mind posting the details or PM'ing me. i'd love to know.

Thanks for posting the details. im still a tad confused but i get the basics. it sounds tricky. think ill have to try it. yours looks so perfect though. great job. ;)

well it seems like the kiwi and lemon would have had to be similar in size and i thought kiwis were much smaller than lemons in general, can you make a layer larger to make the sizes comparable and then still merge it with another (if thats what you even did, maybe they were jsut similar sizes), and it fits so perfectly into the lemon rind did you have to hand draw the white of the lemon around it or was there an easier way? the whole thing is going to make my head explode. really. lol
