Immature Blue-tailed Damselfly.

100mm f2.8 macro lens plus 70mm of extension tube.
Lit be a 550ex and a 420ex

In the 'failure' challenge, lots of comments about the sharpness meant I dropped lots of points. The damselfly kept flicking it's abdomen up in the air. I took nearly 30 shots before I got the crisp sharpness and the tail in that position. The damselfly was caught on my garden pond and brought into the greenhouse for the 'shoot'. He was released back into the wild and went on to live a long and fulfilling life ;-)

This is much better than the original Keith ;) Where you find these dragonflies is beyond me but the sight of his eyes peeking at the sides is just hilarious. Love it ;)

Omigosh. The expression is absolutely priceless. An amazing shot - prefect focus on the little guy's (or gals - I don't suppose you asked) face.

Sharper than your original. Nice background. The tail is a bit distracting, which you tried to compensate for with your title. Your biggest failure in the last shot was probably that it was shoehorned into the Failure challenge. 7
