I used a flashlight & the bathroom mirror, then in PS Elements 4.0 I resized cropped, layered, enhanced contrast & lighting, enhanced red layer more, and added a cloud filter to bring out the smoke & fire in my imagination. I think that's it. Thanks for helping me to unhinge my mind to have fun! (Of course, those who have known me for more than...say...five minutes would declare that I was already "unhinged.":)

As you may have guessed by now, the theme of this photo is certainly not my typical genre. Yet it seemed apropos to use a bit of irony/ opposite of my hopes for those that I love.
I have readily admitted in my Bio that I believe in Absolutes (a truly un-PC concept in the contemporary mind,) but I must remain consistent in refusing to compromise personal integrity for the doubtful possibility of fleeting popularity.
That being said, I am totally convinced of the existence of Heaven and Hell as well as the Truth that every human soul in History will have an eternal residence in one of these two localities.
The photo representation here demonstrates the sad realization of the busy human who had no time to think about God, but who "came to himself" in Hell with the thought "Uh, Oh! This is for Real!"

Hey there from the Critique Club

Camera Work/Technical: While very creative, it is very difficult to determine if anything is in focus or not. The red coloring also suggests that the white balance is off.

Lighting: Very interesting and, again, very creative. As mentioned in an earlier comment, it just looks washed out and overexposed.

Composition/Content: Nice composition, but I would like to see the rest of the chin. Chopping it off there looks more accidental than intentional. I do like your chosen angle for shooting this one. It provides the image with a very nice flow.

My Opinion: While meeting the challenge well, it appears that this is not what the voters were looking for. Crisp focus is a must to do well in challenges such as this. I do like the creativity, as well as the interesting composition, but I think this one scored pretty close to its potential as it is.

Sorry this is too washed out for my liking.

For some reason I enjoyed this one. Really doesn't need the title -- it stands well on its own.

The colors here seem really washed out - faded. Might try bumping up your saturations and/or contrast. Play with curves a bit too if you have that feature in your editing software to see what ylou can achieve.
The composition is okay - but I dont care for how the chin is clipped. Focus seesm very soft throughout.
