 Shot on the morning of the last day of our family vacation to California, and just before a marathon drive back to Los Angeles. The morning light was fantastic, and the fog rolling in off the ocean added an almost surreal effect. I clicked off more than 50 frames at this location alone. I felt this one best utilized negative space in drawing attention to the beacon in the distance.

Technical:
Uncropped from the camera. Performed a minor levels adjustment, then bumped up the saturation and contrast slightly. Resized for submission, then performed USM at 100/1.5/15 in PSE2.

Well seen and well composed. I do think though that the subject of the shot isn't bold enough and ends up losing out to the sharp rocks in the foreground. If possible, I'd have waited until at least something on the headland became more visible before taking the shot.

The pictures just keep getting better and better....and this is one of the best I've seen. I love a picture that can take me "there".....and here I am, standing on this beach in the fog! WONDERFUL picture!!! :)

i love the rich tones in this image! The fading bluffs in the background and then the neg space imply that this scene continues on and on. Nice. 9
