Andalusian-QH (Azteca) stallion, a lot of eye candy shot that day. I enjoy shooting silhouettes. Not much processing here, cropped, contrast upped, saturation upped. Unsharp mask.

Don't know why she's ridin' so high,
She ought to think twice,
She ought to do right by me.
Before she gets to saying goodbye,
She ought to think twice,
She ought to do right by me.

I've looked at this picture a number of times since the challenge... it's just a phenomenal image. Even more amazing to me since I know first hand how many stars and planets had to line up for all the teeny nuances, like the sun through her hair, to come through when working with/shooting a horse. You can plan it to a good degree but the extra element of lucky stars tops it off.

Congrats on your top 10 finish. Remarkable capture. I think I understand why you chose to sacrifice some tilt in the horizon for the additional height of rare/buck of the horse. It works very well.

As a 44 year Beatles fan, I knew every song referenced in all the entries, so I was really looking for one that jumped out. This one did. I think the dogs are distracting and would have liked to have them out of the picture. I don't know whether this was a planned shot or target of opportunity, but it would also have been cleaner to not have the tree under the horse's front leg, though the silouhette is distinct enough that that's not a major problem. The peek of sun through the rider's hair is great. Unless the horse is a statue, that had to be fortuitous (or 300 shots till you got it just right). But dogs and tree aside, the horse and rider jump out, and that's the "ticket". 10

If this is a genuine composition and it truly looks as though it is then what a perfect capture of ambience and experience this is a picture that speaks to the man in me that still wanders the road.if only it were me behind that lens.

A marvelous capture - she does indeed have a ticket to ride. Love the action of the rearing horse. This silhouette of horse and rider is a golden moment not just for the beauty of the capture but the warm golden tones that illuminate them. Lovely capture. Now the critique, I think that a closer crop to the main focal point is highly recommended. The dogs off to the side really doesn't add much to the composition. They distract the eye away from the main subject. Cropping away 1/3 of the left hand portion and some of the right hand side (about an 1/2 inch away from the lower hoof) would keep the focus tightly on the horse & rider. This is where you want the focus of attention to remain - keeping the viewer's attention on the horse & rider's dance in the golden light. Above average shot 8.

WHOA!!!! Now that's a shot!! I will kowtow until the cows come home if I find out this is an SP! ;)

I think the blacks of the silhouettes could have been a tad darkerand there a couple of "I-see-them-upon-inspection" spots that could be cloned but other than that - exceptionally well done!

No pun intended with the initial whoa - it was simply my first reaction!

I don't know why she's riding so high
She ought to think right

A touch too much brightness/contrast, but I like how the lyrics work....8
