The ghost town of Caribou lies at an altitude of about 10,000 ft. above sea level, between the modern town of Nederland and the Eldora ski area, just south of Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. The town was founded by Cornish settlers to support a nearby silver mine and once was home to somewhere around 200 citizens, if memory serves. Over time, the town just faded away and Mother Nature has almost totally reclaimed her territory. In the Summer, the entire mountainside is covered with wildflowers (blanketflower, golden banner, scarlet paintbrush, and many others I can't identify) and audibly hums from the bees that tend them. Aside from a few stone foundations that give the meadow a haphazardly terraced look, just three structures remain visible - two ruined stone buildings and this fallen cabin, still covered in hand-driven nails.

First impression:

Great angle/perspective, good focus and lighting.
What can you do better?
Maybe a slight rotation to let the house stand upright and the distance leveled.
You have probably that low score because the voters wanted to see modern architecture. The commenters loved it though.

Greetings from your own critique club.

First Impression
Very Nice shot with perspective.
Composition:
Don't like the centered composition. It takes away all the credit IMO of the great shot. I would have prefered this with following rule of third with the same camera angle. Some more room on the left side to achieve the same.
Subject:
Very nice, perfect for the challenge
Technical (Colour and light):
Very nice. Jusr one thing, don't like the red tone in the cloud.
Improvement:
Different Coposition.
Summary:
Nice take on the challenge. Over all very nice image. Different perpective works very well.

Cheers!! Keep shooting.

Greetings from CTP2

The first thing that strikes me about this is it's sharpness. I think I got a splinter just looking at that detail. :P Speaking of which, you might want to revisit this place for the next texture challenge.

The composition is a little odd to me. Maybe if both sides of the structure ran off into a vanishing point like the left side it would have worked better, IMO. Regardless, I like how you tried to be different here. I would also say rotate the image a bit since the building looks like it's leaning but that actually enhancing the fragile aspect to this.

As far as the sky is concern, it didn't really bother me at first until I read some of those other comments you received. The color does look fake looking but more than that it just looks out of place in an otherwise traditional looking photograph. The color on the building looks good however.

Overall a good image. I like the direction you were going here. Even though I saw a few others like this in this challenge I thought this whole concept of old architecture to be out of the box great thinking so congrats on that front.

Hello from Álex, CTP MkII

First Impression: great wide angle. Very good perspective.
Composition: OK. Maybe a little centered in the middle of the photo the intersection of both walls.
Subject: appropiate for the challenge, i like it, but some voters maybe were expecting other thing in the challenge
Technical: the colors are a bit harshed IMO, surely the shot was at midday, and the light is too strong, so the texture and details are not very clear. Colors are fine.
Improvement: Try to shoot at other time of the day (morning or before sunset). Try another angle, shooting more from the right, so the intersection of the walls is not so centered.
Summary: Good shot with a nice perspective.

hi from ctp2:

I really liked this. The angle is nice. Maybe stepping out a bit so that the edge isn't cut off would improve it a little? I like the texture of the wood. And I really like the way the empty window frames the mountains. The sky looks a little purple, but that may just be my monitor.
Nice job!

Using a new formula....
Meets the Challenge = 2
Technical Merit = 2
Holds Interest = 2

The "wow factor" = 0
Final score: 8

Perhaps the colours could have been boosted with a little processing. The image is very nice and has some sort of unrealized potential.

Really humble - there's not much homestead left! Nice capture on the texture of the logs.

Great composition. It looks like a little over saturated.
