I have to admit i got the idea from one of the past challenge entries, and i tried to improve on it. Photo taken in a dark room with just a notebook, a steady hand and a tripod. Post processing was almost non-existant, consisting of just crop, USM, noiseninja, and resize+border.

Oh, and as promised, thanks Carlos for the drug company pen :P

Hi! Here’s a comment from the Critique Club.

First Impression:
Nice blue. Neat light source!

Composition:
Excellent positioning of your subjects. The pages really balance the negative space. Written text would have added some interest and action to the shot. Looks a bit static.

Subject:
Meets challenge

Technical:
DOF is shallow, but I don’t know how much you could have influenced or “out thought” your camera settings.
Nice contrast and compromise between blowing out the light and getting hand/paper detail.
Soft focus works for this type of shot.

Summary:
Welcome to DPC. You have a good eye and you did very well with your second entry. Sooo close to a “6.” Good luck with future entries!

Solid work - that deep blue is usually popular here. Unsure about the composition, as there seems a great deal of dead space to image left, and i can't quite see a use for it.

Finally, a useful purpose for a pen to light up. lol I'm sure the light emitted is very limited - good exposure parameters used here in this case.
