Our local National Guard division came home this week and there was a nice parade to welcome them back. They've been gone since January 2005. A long time to be away from their family and friends. I was surprised to see myself getting so choked up when they started coming around the corner in their vans with the police escorts with lights flashing. Everyone was cheering and waving, it was a wonderful site. Unfortunately, not everyone made it back as three riderless horses led the procession. I'm tearing up again just thinking about what these men have given up, all for the service of their country. Thank you so very much!

This is excellent. I didn't vote on this one, but man, what a capture. Love the color choice you used for the duotone. Really a good job! Congrats on top 30. It is certainly deserving.

Thank you for posting "The Troops Come Home!" Your Canon Rebel shows the family's longing for the return of their husband and daddy, and I hope that their reunion is "successful".
Our troops' mission is to ensure the right to dissent and to vote accordingly in a dark and disturbing nation in our often cold world. Thanks to those who post their opinions. And a special thank you to those who leave home and family for the right.

touching - and great hues. If the camera was moved up just a hint it would help the composition a lil but really nice as is. A great candid moment.
