Jeez, there are alot of bald, eye glass wearing, camera holding, white, photographers in this world. Sorry, I thought your were Beagleboy, Kiwiness.

Great placement, 'nice job' Anastasia.

Hey Nasty, I didn't vote this one so didn't see it. I think you have totally gone overboard on this one & pulled all the stops. How on earth did you manage to get that ugly dude to look almost handsome! (Or did you take it through the bottom of a beer glass??)
Great shot!!

I really like that the colored gels are in this shot...gives a small dash of color to the otherwise black background. A very nice portrait shot and fits the challenge very well.

Are you sponsored by Manfrotto and Nikon?

No just kidding. I like it. The light is nice. Also the camera :)

WOW, What's not to like, aside from the fact that's a NIKON camera?

good environmental portrait. He seems to sit low in the frame - maybe crop just a tiny bit off the top to pull him up. 8

OH he´s so cute with those glasses! Give him a beer from me :)

Looking good! It's funny, when I see coloured gels I think theatre as opposed to photography, but I know they are used in photo studios as well. Nice, subtle lighting. Well done

would have been nice if the red light on the left would have been entirely in the image but great color, sharpness, composition -8-

Well done - technically, almost boringly 'perfect' - and kind of camply, well, obvious? For me it's just a portrait with a couple of props thrown in to get that required element, rather than telling me anything interesting about this bloke. Right down to colouring the lamps, and the carefully revealed logo on the tripod, it smacks of an attempt to fulfill an idea of what the community likes. Kind of a shame, given such technical finesse.
05/16/2006 02:47:46 PM
Had to make it tough didn't you?
Do I assume this is Nasti's shot of Gary and give it the 10 it deserves?
Or do I assume it's Gary doing a self-portrait and trying to beat me in LOD so give it a 1?

Unfortunately, integrity must win out. Bumping to 10.
Congratulations, on a great portrait!

I think the watch says "geek" a little too much. Is Gary comfortable with that?

Yes! Someone met the challenge and came up with a good pic as well. Nice work, with good lighting and an effective 'environment'.

I thought you were taller, Beagleboy. Nice job anyway. No, no, no, don't expect any long, bloated, critique. You just get a 'nice job'.

I like your use of lights with gels for the background. However they kind of draw my eye away from the person, because they are colorful.

Very nicely lit...I like this one a lot, should do good. Nikon, Bogen, bald head...are you following me? haha jk of course...

I like the inclusion of the lights in the background...really helps the image both compositionally and does just what your title says -- puts him in his element. Nice work.
