Challenge: Self Portrait IV (Advanced Editing IV*)

Location: bedroom
Date: May 12, 2006
Aperture: f4.5
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/80
Galleries: Portraiture
Date Uploaded: May 12, 2006

I did this 'overdone glamour shot' pose for the 30-day self-portrait challenge, and it was my favorite (of the ones whose editing would pass DPC regulations), and I was too lazy and burned-out on self-portraits to figure out something new to do. So I reshot this one, and did some different editing on it.

Flash angled to bounce off the ceiling, my favorite red bra, too much makeup, a bit of dodging and burning, a levels adjustment or two, diffuse glow AND gothic glow, and there you have it.

Just noticed this again browsing thru your awesome portfolio during our side challenge. This reeeeealllly should have scored higher than 6.2. It's beautiful! And I love the soft glamorous processing you did on it. I gave it a 9 in the challenge and think the voters who gave it below a 9 are stupid (anyone who disagrees with me in the voting is stupid. .tee hee. . . just kidding. . sort of :)

Like the angle but something looks a little off with the skin. A little blown out in spots.

Nice photo, well composed. I like it. Here's a tip though. Next time, select the whites of the eyes and desaturate red. It will remove veins in the eyes that distract. Good luck in the voting.

Very hot, I would have used healing brush for small mark on left jaw and made the body softer. Great pose, quite lovely.

Not bad...I like the idea. I think the blue background is a problem. White or black would have been better.

Magnetic and a bit disturbing, that is until you flip the picture, then you see a gentle peaceful face with a vulnerable smile. I think the colours in the picture, as it is, work very well. But when the picture is flipped it's an altogether different picture.

Lovely shot, lots of impact to it through the composition, crop and color combination. Good work and give yourself a pat on the back :)

I think the strong red works pretty well here, though I normally like more natural shots without makeup. Good perspective and tight composition to give a nice personal feel. I like the catchlights in your eyes and the direct gaze into the camera.
