Challenge: Clichés and Sayings (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED
Location: London
Date: May 1, 2006
Aperture: f4,5

Shutter: 1/40

Date Uploaded: May 2, 2006

post processed in photoshop using levels and hue/saturation adjustment layers only
The contrast in the original shadow image was very low hence the grain which unfortunately is lost a lot when resized

This is a 'throw away' shot for a series I'm putting together based on the grimm fairy tales

lol I knew this wouldn't sdo that well , but to do SO badly makes me laugh!

thanks Dr Timbo , arnit and eveyone with positive comments

just to clarify

THIS IS A DELIBERATE SHOT. no need for a tripod, no camera shake etc...

to re-create the you need a funky shadow, soft as possible (i had to deliberatly lower the light)
the image you get doesn't really look like anything UNTIL the post-shot work (in my case in photoshop)
and then its a case of getting the different tones out, the fullsize image has an amazing grain and texture to it, I'll post it online somewhere

and thanks regarding the cinematic look as that's totally what i was going for that and slightly creepy - after all it's a grim, fairy tale

what i didn't want to produce was a beautiful sunset with a path through a forest of lush leaves! :-)

I can't believe this is so low - I gave it an 8 - I think its really clever.

Looks blurred from camera shake, you need a tripod or more light to avoid this

This picture will probably rate in the bottom 10 but I really like it. There is something about it. I will rate it highly. Good job and good luck.

cool! I know you must be getting killed with your score but I'll give you a 10. This is so cinematic and surreal in its most imagination-inspiring sense.

Weird... dark... but kind of fascinating. Good shot!

This is a bit outside the norm for DPC. I fear it won't do too well. Keep trying.

how did you do that

haunting but grainy
