Could I go inside and "borrow" a couple of apples to eat?

Very nice. Good color saturation, and an interesting subject. A real challenge, as the detail captured in the shadowy cabin necessitated the washed out sky. Would be interesting to do see a pseudo neutral-density filter applied here (outside of dpchallenge, of course).

Nice capture. I think framing this so that the buildind and tree are further right, and more of the split rail fence and garden showed would make it more balanced to me. Also, the shadow on the building kinda flattens the details. The background is hazy, but that is a common problem in this area (it's geographical not photographical), but you have done well. I personally think the Smokies rule!!!! karmat

Wish my lawn looked that nice! Good shot, nice composition/framing/focus. Seems a bit hazy in the distance. Cloudy day? 7 Swash

Would like more definition in the sky... This image would be much better if it wasn't a hazy day. 5 sjgleah

nice use of thirds.

I think this could be a postcard.....I think it's framed perfectly. I love it!

The shadow on the front of that building is bad. Would have been nice if the sun was behind you and to the left.
07/17/2002 03:17:00 AM
hmmm.
wide angle would have worked wonders here. :-)
07/17/2002 01:36:00 AM
Beautiful setting. Could maybe stand to be a little closer so more detail in thestone and wood shows (probably better at higher resolution!).

Contrast too bright

Tennessee?

nice triangles

Nice composition, but I think you picked the wrong time of day for this shot. The colors are washed out.
07/16/2002 08:58:00 AM
Clear shot. Stepping to the right to get more of the roof line on the side might make the composition a bit more interesting.
07/16/2002 06:11:00 AM
nice! I think I would like this photo a little better if you had been about 15 feet to the right to add some more dimension to the house.. It would possibly give it a better 3 dimensional perspective. :) = 6 - jmsetzler

Appealing. Would like more detail in the house other than the foundation. Guess it would mean the foundation and grass would be over exposed though. Over all I like the character of this edifice and the setting.

Kind of a postcard view. Nice composition, I'm glad that you got the whole tree in the shot. It would be a little better if the lighting were such that there were no shadow in front. It makes it difficult to see the door and detail in the wood work.
07/15/2002 07:04:00 PM
My kind of subject ! I have such a weakness for this type of thing. I would love to see this done early one morning or really late one afternoon without any shadows or bright sun so that you get a clean photo with deep rich colors:)
07/15/2002 04:56:00 PM
And on the reverse side is printed:
"Apple House in the Smokies" Place Postage Here :-)
I just have the feeling I'm being showen the rong side of the house.

Kind of a weird shadow...I think this may have been improved taking it earlier or later in the day when the shadow was a bit longer and not so straight downward.
07/15/2002 04:17:00 PM
good shot but the shadow is a bit distracting...afternoon I presume....morning light might have been better

Although I'm way out here in Oregon this shot just screams east coast to me. <g> I may be 100% off base but it reminds me of Pennsylvania. This is nice, love the textures, colors and sharpness of this shot. Good composition. KEE

ok I want to live there
07/15/2002 01:29:00 AM
Would have been one of my favorites if the photo had carried more detail in the eve shadows.
07/15/2002 01:14:00 AM
Nice subject, but I think if you'd used a different angle on the building, and shot either earlier or later in the day, you would have had a more dramatic photo.
07/15/2002 12:49:00 AM
Very pretty...I like how the shadow echoes the roof pitch
