Greetings from the Critique Club!

First Impression - the most important one: An excellent B&W conversion, and a very nice shot.

Composition: Quite well done. There's not much to do with these types of macro shots, but what you did, you did well. I like the depth and texture of this shot. You took a typically flat subject and added dimensionality to it.

Subject: I hated this challenge from the beginning, and didn't enter it because it seemed like such an impossible thing to photograph. You managed to do a pretty good job of making a visual representation of an auditory concept.

Technical (Colour and light): As I said in my first impression this was an excellent choice to convert to black and white. I like the shallow depth of field as well. The soft light is perfect. Overall it is a very pleasing photo.

To grow its vote?: I honestly don't know. :) There's nothing wrong with this photo. I'm suprised it didn't score higher than it did. At the same time it lacks the raw emotion, the WOW! factor that makes for ribbons at DPC.

Summary: Well done. I honestly can't think of a way to improve this photo. It is a static subject, so it's not going to score incredibly well at DPC. I would be proud to hang it on my wall.

Critique the Critique: A lot of effort goes into writing these critiques and I would appreciate feedback on how I'm doing. Do my comments make sense? Am I on track or way off base? Do my comments make you want to pick up a meat cleaver? Please let me know via a PM if you found these comments helpful, or not so much so.

Thanks!
