Challenge: Something Old II (Advanced Editing IV*)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Location: Highland, CA - Back room of my uncle's house
Date: Apr 14, 2006
Aperture: f/5.6
ISO: 100
Shutter: 20 sec
Galleries: Family, Vintage
Date Uploaded: Apr 15, 2006

Shot on a dusty antique table, my grandpa's old Lubitel 2 camera. The lighting was provided by a white candle slightly out of frame. The watch belonged to my late cousin and I thought it would help add a sense of "age" to this shot.

My initial attempts came out quite red from the pale glow of the candle. I compensated for this by adjusting the white balance shift fully towards blue and green (B9, G9) and changed the white balance setting to Tungsten. This gave the candlelight a more antique tone. Shot at f/5.6 with an exposure time of 20 seconds. I did no editing whatsoever, only converting from RAW to JPG and resizing for the Web.

I love the lighting in this shot, especially the reflections in the camera lens.

Nice shot of the camera, but the watch confuses me a bit, especially with the title you've chosen. The quality of the image is sweet and old-timey - I like that aspect of this a lot. The light (other than the reflection glares) is really, really good.

I think this could have been better with better light; the camera loses some feel in the darkness.
