Shot this at a soccer game of 3-4 years olds. What a treat that was!! This little boy got pushed down and ran crying to Mommy. Loved the tissue in her hand & the lifting up of his chin to comfort him. Cropped a little closer than I wanted but baby sister seemed to pop up every time I tried to get another angle.

A very sweet moment caputured here. I agree with you that it's cropped just a wee bit close, but just a wee bit. I do like the composition even though his ear is very nearly centered and that probably violates all sorts of "good photo" guidelines - works for this shot very nicely!

Good expression on the child. I think the chopped off fingers makes the compostion awkward to look at.

I'm not much for receiving or giving comments, but since Candids are near and dear to my heart, I have decided to give comment on every entry in this challenge.

Children are so easily captured in a candid. This usually puts me off, but in this shot, I like it. I like it because of the added interest in the loving hand under the chin. It tells me the story. The story is not just a boy crying, which one can see a thousand shots of, but its a boy being comforted. I like that. Just the smallest detail like that can make it a good photo verses an every day snapshot. It's still just a 6 for me though, but that isn't bad considering I don't usually like candid shots of children as they are so easy and not out of the comfort zone. But I feel this one, and that is good. I also like the tones and the crop. Good work here.

WHAT A FACE!~ We call that "mule lipped." ha ha Man, could he be pouting any better?? What an adorable boy. The hand under the chin really tells the story. Nicely done. 8

A tighter crop on the left (close to the back of the young boy's ear) would make this good shot even better for me. It puts his eye on a vertical third.
