Drops of water on a piece of nylon netting REFRACTING a french tulip in the background.

Used two approx, 12" x 16" box lids covered in white paper on the tops and sides with the flat area facing towards the subject. Weighted the lids down with a weight on one side and two coffee cannisters filled with coins on the other. Left a space about 2-3" in between the two lids. Used office clips to attached the net to the sides of the boxes across the center at the same level as the subject (though I've found it better for it to be slightly below, as opposed to above or even). Placed the water drops on the net with an eye dropper (always the worse part of the process...the slightest movement, at times, will make the drops flow, pop or go flat which distorts the refraction and makes the subject look less definable). The ideal drops are convex towards the camera. Shot in macro mode with a 10x close up filter on the camera. The camera was on a table top tripod.

Post: Crop. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. Lighten shadows 20%, darken highlights 1%, no additional contrast. NeatImage. Sharpen. Resize. USM. Save for Web.

Pretty much my favourite in this competition, unfortunatly the quality of the photo itself is not quite what it could be, but I like it

This looks like a winner!

Brilliant colours, lovely saturation, excellent work with getting the drops just right!

The sort of photo I wish I had taken, but would never be inventive enough!

Best of luck with the challenge

great shot, abviously took a great deal to set up...lacks a little sharpness for me, but I won't mark it down for that as the colours and comp are great

Similar photos like this have been done before. It's a good photo, I just wish it was more original. Good luck in future challenges.

Great job with execution, but the focus seems to be a little on the soft side.

This is a really difficult technique. You must have a lot of patience.

Did you place each drop in the net? If you did, then the effort really paid off! Amazing shot!
