White core board background
Shot from atop a ladder in my basement under two Sears 1000 watt work lights through white umbrellas, and a flash, bounced off the wall.

Thanks to my artsy-fartsy 16 year old daughter for the still life setup. I was told not to do this until she could help. Our first setup included mustard and we shot it on the back side of gift wrap paper. That didn't work well. The mustard had a big stain around it. The whole layout really was bad, too. But we're happy with this one.

In PSCS2:

rotate, crop, resize, levels, shadow/highlight, USM, clone & heal for a stray banana string, a lemon juice spot and some crumbs around the pound cake

Loved the whole layout! The lighting is great, composition is right-on and a well thought out plan.

Meal? I wouldn't eat all of those things at once! Neat idea and arrangement though! :)

Not sure the pure sugar in the peeps counts as balanced, but it's a good take on the challenge!

ok, this is nasty..... it's late.. dinner is only a memory and I am hungry :) the structure in this shot works.. the only thing that might have improved this shot would be a darker background - the white seems to desaturate the yellows.

i don't know what editing software you are using, but i would suggest if you are using photoshop to go into the hue/saturation adjustments, select "yellow" from the drop down menu and then slide the saturation up a bit, i think it would have helped this image tremendously, i like it as is, but would give it the extra punch

Nice idea and symmetry - would have liked to have perfect, unblemished fruit to match the non-rustic white background.
