I really wanted to duplicate jmsetzler's blue ribbon winner, Forbidden Fruit, but lacking an apple I settled on the orchids. This orchid is a Malibu Chablis grown by my wife.
Shot in raw format, the orchid was lit with four lights. The difficult part was trying not to blow out the white color and still capture the texture of the petals. I know I will get comments that it is not really a triumvirate because of the two flowers facing the other way. I just could not bring myself to cutting them off. . . besides. . .I didn't know what I was going to tell my wife about how they ended up missing! I also deliberately filled the image with the scene to bring the viewers attention to the heart of the flowers and also felt it gave the image the appearance of the orchids cascading out of the frame.

In Photoshop:
cropped for effect;
in layers- adjusted levels especially midtones;
adjusted curves slightly;
usm 248%/,9/1;
saved for the web.

Technical perfection. The tones you captured in this image are great and the reds give the composition exceptional elegance.

stunning shot...perhaps a little too close in the crop for my liking, but crisp and sharp
