A shot of the audience at a Trivium gig taken from the balcony. Everyone was actually very good-natured here and enjoying themselves!

Greetings from the Critique Club...

Hi Bob :)

This photo did rather well in the context of the challenge and doesn't really require much critique. All I may be able to offer is my personal feelings on the image rather than a way to have it score higher...

The photo obviously meets the challenge and the voters seemed to like it. Compositionally, it feels a bit odd to me. It feels like a riot is taking place, and the partial person/object in the lower right seem to be the focal point, and there isn't enough context there to sort out what is happening. I'm not familiar with the term "Mosh Pit" so I couldn't use that to help me understand the image...

I bounced quite a powerful flash off the (high) ceiling. At ISO1600.

Is this a non-smoking venue? My experience in thse situation is that it is smoky and the lighting is not as homogenous
Did you use any extra lighting? if so what kind? I love this shot but if i tried to take it, i think it would be turnn out blurry
with no flash or look too harsh with a flash.

The intensity of some of the faces is great. Makes me glad I'm not down in there. They'd kill me. Great shot.

Oh, flashback! That used to be me. Except we called it "slam-dancing" back in the dark ages. This is a great shot full of energy and expression. Nice focus and good exposure. Good job of freezing a moment in time. My only nitpick is that the two figures in the foreground don't do much for the composition, IMHO. It doesn't look like there was any other choice but to include them, though, without chopping off someone else. This is one of my favorites from this challenge.

Looks like a fight! This doesn't work well for a square crop. The person at the very bottom throws the balance off. Othewise It is a great shot.

I like the perceived motion here. Reminds me of high school...

has to be another bobster lobster shot - I think it would be better cropped without the guy's head at the bottom, but then it wouldn't be square...oy vey

Great details. Nice framing. I like the frozen movement - very nice. The only peeve is the person at the bottom of the frame. I wish I could see more or less of him. As is, he is not a part of the image, but he is there - a distraction.

Like the way you convey the energy and agression in this picture. I'm not quite sure about the crop? The lower part is not that interesting perhaps?
Good job even so!

Great documentary style photograph. The toning works well and the choice for b&w makes the viewer look at what's going without being distracted by colors of shirts, pants and shoes. The underside looks a bit cut off, but it doesn't hurt that much as the energy is in the upper part. 10

Cool image.. love the caos. my eye is drawn to the young man in the front middle left portion with the open shirt. His eyes guide me to the bottom off the image. What exactly is going on beyond the "SEPUL" in the bottom right?

Only 1 guy comes to mind. Bobster? Sweet Duotones here and love the facial expression on the one guy. For some reason I wish the guy at the lower right hand corner was not there. Anyway, sharp and great focus and DOF.
