Canadian_eh, the dry ice was not as hard to get as most things in my neck of the woods. There is an ice truck and bait shop/shed that a couple run right at the top of my street. There you can get ice both regular in bags, and dry ice is made for you on the spot.

Fishing is big around here with our little stocked lakes, and the heat is also big around here. So them running both an ice truck and a bait shop is good business. :) The fisherman can stock up on bait and keep their beers cool all at the same time.

Gunnsi, the footwear challenge had not been posted yet when this shot was taken. I wish it had, or I would have submitted into that instead of Education. :)

Education is a big bummer for me. My photo is one of my most creative to date in Education, but it seems that being overly clever or creative is also a downfall. Submission rules come into play and voters vote photos down for the "not knowing" about if it meets basic editing rules. I find that too bad, however, I also find it quite flattering, so its really two fold. It's a bummer cause of the scores, but it's also flattering that the scores are low due to the "wonder" factor on a creative entry. So I am not going to complain either way. If one of my entries fails ribbon wise for being TOO clever, then let it! LOL...

This was actually not the shot I intended. I intended to drive to the cemetary and have my car door open on the passengers side. Have the boots walking in front of the car with head lights on in order to see the dry ice mist coming from the boots. The shot would have showed the boots, car, and at the cemetary and would have been entitled "Thanks for the ride!". Actually my husbands idea :) Problem is, I got sick. Ended up in the emergency room and couldn't complete my shot for that week. This was really only an outtake done in my living room, but I will take the 60th place. Not bad for a throw in. :)

Shutterpug, thank you for the comment, and all you say is correct. I was still not used to my camera settings, and did the shot with no one else to help. The dry ice wasn't cooperating and I only bought a pound of it. I just kept pouring the water on it and then had to grab my camera and shoot quickly. Next thing you know, I was flooding my carpet. LOL...The mist would only last a few seconds. I only bought a pound of this stuff and had to do that being sick as well. It was just a bummer. So I took the boots outside on my porch for some final shots, and they did come out better. Looked like two un-manned boots walking down my long porchway from my complex. Problem was again, the water drops. You could see them on the wood from me running to pour and then running back to shoot. A "dead" give away to the dry ice and with basic editing I couldn't fix that.

Anyway, this was not as much of a bust as I expected, but when you can't enter what your creative juices are telling you to, it sux. LOL...

Clever idea, I gave you an 8 on this. Would have been higher had the color rafges been better. The back of the boots are so dark there is no detail left to them. The sepia tones are really good for this type shot, but try to even them out better.

Good idea and I like the choice of coloring, makes it feel a bit more mysterious.

Not sure I think the concept here matches the challenge that great, but it is a cool, well-executed picture!

not6 obvious enough - the dry ice needs to be much more prominent, but I like the idea
