Wow... Unbelievable. Thanks to everyone who voted and particularily to those that left a comment... By the way, no lips were pierced in the making of this image... :)
Learned a bit of a lesson with this one... kept the editing simple and didn't sweat the small stuff.
Lighting was achieved by using a single studio flash to the right and a little above... thought it worked out pretty well. The edgier effect was achieved by desat and Sepia filter and lightening the highlights just a bit more than ordinarily would. Shadows were darkened as well to blend into background... :)

This image is absolutely wonderful. Keep up the good work.

This one has always fascinated me. The simplistic feel to it...their own individuality...and yet there reluctance to conform to society whilst knowing they should.
03/11/2006 02:41:21 PM
Wow and CONGRATS!!!! Very nice work here! You are reaching mentor status in my book! :-)

I think it's sad that so many people immediately see anyone with piercings as "odd." (Also, the female's looks much too low for a ring. It should probably be a labret.)

The photo was very technically well done though. Congratulations on winning!

This was my favorite because of its mammoth visual impact and while this subject is not my cup of tea, this image imparts a potent beauty all its own and deserves to have run away with the competition.

Congratulations on your BLUE!

Pretty bold shot, hope it does well. I like the way this is lit, but would prefer to see Jill a little less exposed. The image expresses an uncompromising attitude that seems a little more intent in Jack. The dark between them is especially poignant.
Good job.

Best in challenge. So raw! The cobmination of the lighting and your post processing (grunge effect)was executed to perfection at expressing the edginess of youth. Brilliant....10

and look at those lips................

I would have liked this better if I could see her eyes, similar to the way you can see the guys. Minor. IMO this is a very well crafted photo, the processing is also well done. bump to 9

Not usually my interpretation of "odd couple", but they are certainly coupled in an odd way, so, yeah, I guess they are an odd couple. I like the duotone effect and the lighting is nice. It sort of turns my stomach to look at it too long, but that's just me.

I am only new to photography and the terms I have been using when commenting on peoples photos probably mean something totally different to experienced camera owners.
So let me just put this bluntly.
This image has that X-Factor.
This is one of the most eye-catching shots of the challenge and I would place it in the top 3.
Well done. Don't know if my comments are helpful to you...

Oh my.... yes, they are odd. Right on topic, and a very nice photo..... good choices in lighting and color treatment created a nice mood here.

For me, this would have fit better for the eighties challenge. It looks more retro, then odd, to me :) Nice shot, tho, I love the tone it has a warm feeling for a harder edged subject.

Ohmygoodness. . .OUCH! Gotta score this high tho because it's exeucted very well, and they certainly are an "odd" couple :)

Was expecting more of these kind of shots in the challenge as it hit´s the challenge theme head on. Makes this stand out even more. I like it, only thing I dislike is the tight framing. Got a 7 from me.

AWESOME!!! Perfect depiction for the challenge. I might have Jill remove that necklace as it's just a tad distracting from the chain/ring of the other.
