Nice image. Too soft in my opinion. Looks like an old Penthouse photo.

Nice photo. I normally don't mind soft focus, but I think this is a bit too soft.
02/28/2006 10:13:54 AM
The soft focus draws you in! Great photo!
02/28/2006 09:45:40 AM
Too much haze/blur
02/27/2006 04:50:01 PM
I love the soft feel to this, and the model is great too. Maybe it's just me, but the picture could've been just a bit less blurred? This is still one of my favorites for this challenge though :)
02/26/2006 08:31:05 PM
Expertly captured and presented with good lighting and pleasant general softness. Bumping up.
02/26/2006 12:26:04 PM
too much blur, it makes the details fo the fashion seem inconsequential to the processes of the photo itself.
02/25/2006 08:10:06 PM
A bit too blurred for my taste. Woman and dress both lovely, though.
02/25/2006 02:17:52 PM
The soft focus really works here. The black bracelets are distracting from the curves of the model.....less accessory, more attention to model.
02/25/2006 10:19:45 AM
Good capture, wish the subject would have been more sharp. Good lighting work
02/25/2006 08:34:07 AM
nice pose, capture and model. the softness works, but I wonder if it's too much. Great background.
02/25/2006 03:39:28 AM
nice shot, a little too soft
02/25/2006 03:25:02 AM
Way too soft for my liking. Would of been a great photo otherwise!
02/25/2006 12:40:38 AM
Too soft.
02/25/2006 12:24:03 AM
Beautiful girl, great outfit, decent pose.... but it's a way too soft for me. This looks more like a portait then a fashion photo.
02/24/2006 11:35:54 PM
Great pose, great model, great everything--except it'd be better if it were a bit clearer. I feel like I'm seeing double and I'm losing the subject into the background because of the softness.
02/24/2006 05:47:46 PM
A bit to blurry.
02/24/2006 05:07:14 PM
The blur does it... very glamour
02/24/2006 02:07:34 PM
o i love blurry in this one it really works here and eccentuates the body lines drawing attention away from the face and around the body. the diffuse glow i think anyway? is well applied and not overdone. something truly worth your portfolio
02/24/2006 02:06:08 PM
this almost doesn't work, it is just a touch too soft and loses a point or so for it. Still outstounding composition (7), very close to 8 and the potential to have been a 9.
02/24/2006 12:27:52 PM
I think of this as more of a boudoir or vanity shot than a fashion shot. The soft focus is a bit overdone. A fashion shot should show off the clothes and this just doesn't do that.
02/24/2006 08:07:33 AM
Nice photo. Soft and classy.
02/23/2006 09:04:39 PM
Way too soft
02/23/2006 07:13:31 PM
think the out of focus is ok.. makes it kind of strang but in a good way
02/23/2006 11:56:38 AM
Nice pose, attractive model, good color choice for clothing vs backdrop...a little too much on the softness I think.
02/23/2006 12:26:51 AM
Good shot, great effect, I just think the blur is a little over done. Great shot otherwise!
02/23/2006 12:21:42 AM
I like the soft focus and the red against the green bk
02/22/2006 10:53:22 PM
way out of focus.

could of been good.
02/22/2006 05:47:49 PM
WAY too much haze on this. makes the image almost look cheesy.
02/22/2006 04:37:29 PM
Looks a little too blurred
02/22/2006 03:38:31 PM
good pose and nice effect
02/22/2006 03:03:04 PM
It is rare to find soft focus in fashion. I would normally be willing to look past it, but the soft focus is so over done in this shot that it is hard to. It should be a little more subtle if you ask me. However, your lighting is just wonderful. I think this is a little more on the portait side than the fashion side.
02/22/2006 02:46:09 PM
Overall a very good fashion image. But a little too much diffusion.
02/22/2006 02:39:56 PM
i like the soft focus
02/22/2006 02:19:00 PM
too much filter on this one... but the pose is great!
02/22/2006 12:03:25 PM
Nice. Perhaps a bit too soft, but that's just personal preference. Crop is maybe a little tight on the left, but other than that, this is a really good fashion photo.
02/22/2006 11:08:14 AM
too soft for my liking

When using a real live full photo model in fashion photography, it is a very risky thing to do for ads, fashion, etc. This is why it is so much hard work to be a model. They have to portray the product or fashion in the proper way. However, on the risk you took in using a model in this way, here is my critique. I first want to comment on the title, "Curves". I believe it is actually the name of a product. I believe a perfume. I would have had that in the shot and her holding it. I know this wasn't a challenge for ads, but the dress alone really is just a dress and doesn't do much for me. The hip action is also a bit too severe. Almost in a distracting way. With the product it would have made more sense, but without it, it seems an un-necessary stance. This model is very pretty and the huge swing in the hip is just overpowering her and drawing the eye to the hip. It also draws the eye to the bracelettes, which don't work with this gown. On the other hand, from the chest up, her facial expression is spot on and she is showing a nice amount of neck for the stance, but that hip, again, pulling it out so far has hunched her shoulders, taking away from the potential this shot could have had. In any case, it is still pleasing. I like the soft focus, and the red on black, etc. I still gave it a decent score.

The model is beautiful and I love the soft focus, except wish her eyes would remain sharp comparatively speaking. It makes my eyes twitch to try and figure it out. I think this would be an awesome image of it were cropped right above her shoulders. (just a minor decapitation Still, very nice work. -8-
02/22/2006 07:38:46 AM
I think it's a bit to soft.
02/22/2006 07:15:45 AM
Brave soft focus.
I think it works well.
Best of luck

I really like the softness of this picture and the background is beautiful. The model has also done a fantastic job!
02/22/2006 02:39:20 AM
/Good lighting and colors. Focus might be a bit too soft.
