This is a self-portrait shot in my living room. I would've liked it to come out a bit better, but this was a last minute shoot. Tweaked contrast, lightness, and cropped in PSCS.

TOO DARK TO SEE IMAGE, BUT WHO NEEDS LIGHT TO BELIEVE?

Wonderful shot. I love the lighting outlining the model and the mood comes through.

good effort at low key backlighting. My guess is you'll get slammed by those with poor monitors. 6

This is a creative idea. I just think it would be stronger if you had just a touch of fill light to help define the shadow side of the arms. JMO

difficult to distinguish subject matter. i like the smoke and silhouette, but i find it loses alot of meaning without compromising its art appeal. a nice shot artistically.

too dark for me to tell what this is

I love the lighting here. For me it's rather showing hopeless, maybe if there was a little-little more lighting on the fingers, it would be more appearent that your model is praying. I would also vut the bottom, to make the knee(?) out of sight).

If there were more light on the hands themselves, it would evoke an even stronger sense of faith to me. As is, my first impression is more of lonliness and despair.

Without the title, I might take this as "despair". The eyes are drawn to the hair on the arm and it's a bit too dark to make out the whole of the composition.

it took me a second to piece together, but this is a beautiful photograph.

Too dark. I assume those are praying hands, but I can't tell. What is the squiggly line above the arms? Nice idea, but it needs to be re-worked.

Not enough lighting. Very difficult to make out what the picture is of.

Rather than focus on the face or the pose, my eye immediately turns to the hairs on his hands. Is my monitor playing tricks on me? 5

Strong, but a bit too dark, IMO.

Can barely make out that this is a person ...

Nice. I like the darkness, and the sense that I have to look closely to see any detail. But I wish I could see more detail on the face - that would have been a more interesting central subject than the arms.
02/15/2006 02:01:42 AM
I actually can't see the subject or what its form is.

Seems more like dispair
