Thanks for leaving comment on one of my pictures (from where I came to your portfolio). I wanted to leave a generic comment, but this photo atterected me to leave a specific comment. I think this is beautiful photo and the title is "perfect". Not many people would choose such simple, and yet different, 'subject' for 'representations' of Ethnicity. Though this one is nude, it still does not let the theme get diluted by basic-instincts :)This is true art. btw, on technical side the upper right corner is blown out and focus is little soft.

Now coming to more general comment applicable to most of b/w portraits in your portfolio - you really have good sense of lighting and access to beautiful bodies, but somehow the focus on 'almost' all seem to be little soft and also the tonal range is not fully exploited. I feel contrast really needs to be played with. One thing which is really admirable in nude photos is that the model(s) seem to 'feel' very much comfortable with the shots and which kind of gives very natural feel to photos.

Sometimes I don't get DPC. I believe the real reason this got hammered was because it included something so many people are uncomfortable with. When I look at the top ten entries in this challenge I see abstracts that are also HIGHLY recognizable for what they truly are (i.e. kiwiness' paper, the two smoke subjects, Falc's stairs etc.) Not only is yours a visual abstract but it's also contains an abstract "idea" of social significance. I think you met the challenge and then some. Great image. Maybe it's a tad too soft but other than that I love the way you framed it.

I never realised there were actually two people in this...one black and one white...a genius composition

I am sorry, but, this is not an abstract, IMO. It is a tight shot.

Definition 1= Art that departs significantly from natural appearances. Forms are modified or changed to varying degrees in order to emphasize certain qualities or content. Recognizable references to original appearances may be slight. The term is also used to describe art that is nonrepresentational.

Definition 2=Not realistic, though the intention is often based on an actual subject, place, or feeling. Pure abstracion can be interpreted as any art in which the depiction of real objects has been entirely discarded and whose aesthetic content is expressed in a formal pattern or structure of shapes, lines and colors. When the representation of real objects is completely absent, such art may be called non-objective.

Interesting comp, great light, good lines, nice flow, a little noisy,a bit soft, B&w great, nice flow, overall a very nice pix but not for this challenge

To maintain the essence of abstract, I would have absured the nipple and just shown the profile of the breast. Keep 'em guessing longer.

"If it is recognizable as an object - it is not an abstract."

Has potential. The contrasting lines and curves are interesting but a little out of focus.

Great concept! Lighting works well. Although the soft-focus is clearly part of your artistic interpretation, I think I'd actually prefer a little more detailed skin texture, at least on the dark arm and the breast.

Nice enough pic, but the subject matter is obvious and thus not very abstract. Blown out top right is also a little distracting.
