I love the fact that you are putting in photos with a camera phone and admitting to it! I must admit your photos are just plain bad.

I want to see a picture of this guy in every single challenge. You are the MAN!!!!

Technically, this photo is not good at all. In fact, it's terrible. I guess it can be used as a textbook example on fixing mistakes.

But, the emotion that this photo conveys, the genuine smile and the placement of the hand close to heart, is so powerful, that only soulless people can't feel. This photo deserves much much more.

Good luck with the next challenges.

Considering the camera, this isn't a bad shot. I hope to see what else you are capable of doing with so limited means.

Good concept, lovely body and facial expression. The size of the image (as will have been mentioned) and the lighting are areas that could be improved. Good work though, this really does feel romantic.....you've captured that feeling well.

4, because there's a good smile.

This is a small, grainy, overexposed snapshot of someone who appears to be pledging allegiance to his country of choice. The picture does not contain a clear depiction of romance. The image appears to have been overexposed because the camera was metering on the black sweater; making sure that the camera is exposing for his face would have resulted in a better exposure. Removing the distracting item from behind his shoulder would have also improved the photographic merit of the photo.

was this taken with a webcam? this has to be the brown award winner.

I like the "hand-over-heart" pose, but the photograph does not belong in this challenge; it looks as though it was taken at work with a camera-phone. Sorry if this is harsh.

The quality of this photo is quite bad, it's also small. Lighting is the most improtant issue to improve here, it's too harsch.

I think that this shot could have benefited from maximisng the size of the picture, but also from some cropping.

This is a little grainy, and too much light toward the top of photo.

Overexposed, too small (use the full 640 pixels allowed)

I like the webcame simulation sort of look, but I would try to illustrate that better with background objects so more people get it.

I can see the intentions are good in this image - and in that it is a better depiction of romance than a lot of the more empty images. Unfortunately you have been let down on th technical side. The harsh lighting has caused the hand tobe almost blown out completely, and the lips to have an awkward tinge to them. Always try to enter as large as image as possible, because people deduct points for images of this size.

I like this, simple, candid, but strikes a chord
02/01/2006 02:30:05 PM
The presentation (way too small) and the composition (over exposure/members cut) don't create a romantic mood imho.

Welcome to DPC - image is small, please see the tutorial "Using Photoshop to Prepare Photos for DPC Challenges." Better lighting would help the levels, so that detail in some areas isn't so "blown out." Computer over right shoulder is distracting. Also read up on "rule of thirds" for less-central and more interesting composition.

The image is a bit small - use 640px on the longest side. Also the lighting isn't great, its over exposed at the top.

I would say the subject is a bit over-exposed and out of focus. it is difficult to judge due to the size of the image.

The exposure/lighting could be better. A lot of the picture is over exposed.

I think the background is too white and bad shadows on the left of the subject's face, otherwise, a good idea.
