 This is one of the buildings at the Kinkakuji Shrine (known as the golden Shrine because it's all gold) in Kyoto. The detail at the end of the clay tiles are crests that represent each family. Unfortunately they don't do this thing anymore (only the older buildings do).

Wonderful framing and a beautiful building. Too bad the sun is so glaring, kind of takes away the detail of the crests.
