| I like this very much. The round glow of the lights amidst the black of the night sky is appealing. I appreciate the icy roads too, as they happen infrequently here, but when they do, the town shuts down and it's very lonely outside - just as this depicts. This is very reminiscent of a Brassai photograph. If you're not familiar with his work, look it up. |

*Critique Club*
Road of Ice is a good fit into the Road challenge. I personally think night shot are some of the most challenging and most rewarding. The glow from the lights onto the road really enhances the subject. The trees also add to the effect of the light because the are so dark and add a level of depth to the shot. I would be curious to see a tighter crop on the left hand side to take out at least the small couple of street signs. I was looking at your score and placement which really aren't too bad, but I think it would have been higher like agenkin said. I think a lot of us (most of us) don't see it but something just doesn't seem quite right. I really would be curious to see the shot flipped, I think it would have given the shot a nice classic winter night shot. |

| Very nice. I do like night shots and monochrome. I wonder how this would have been with pools of color from the lights? |

| I think that the road leads the eye in the wrong rajectory. The eye normally enters at the left, and then it has nowhere to go in this picture. Try flipping this shot: it may look a whole lot different. |
