Experimental photo taken while my husband was driving. Pouring rain and just a melancholy feeling about the day...title from a Hootie and the Blowfish song.

levels, set grey point, levels on color channels to enhance blue (thank god the sensor dust doesn't show because of the dark trees..), resize, sharpen, save for web

I know I'm hoping for alot when I say that I hope that DPC'rs will realize this is intentional...it seems to me that 2 years ago I, myself, would have thought this a "mistake" on the part of the submitter. Oh, sure, if it were hanging on a gallery wall, different story--I don't know what art is, but I know what I like if someone hangs it in front of me!

Maybe, sometimes, we're able to pause for a second and believe that what is "hung" in front of us at DPC is entirely within its intention...and maybe this is the first time that an image has challenged any particular viewer--so next time they will believe. I know when I reach the fence running and find it too high I blame the fence--when I can leap the fence, I will reflect and realize it never was a fence at all.

this kind of photo just doesn't do well here, although i like it. people tend to respond better to 'this is the scene' rather than 'this is how i felt when i saw the scene.'

Interesting, KaDi. Soooo close to the brown ribbon, too :)
I kind of like it, but I honestly wouldn't have scored it well if I had scored this challenge. Still, I admire your never-ceasing quest for originality.

this and the one above it in the competition are just missing a third to complete the series. i am really on board with what you were going for (except the hootie and the blowfish part ;)). for me a little was lost due to the car taillights, but i suppose that really wasn't an option for consideration in an open challenge. nice submission

focus focus focus

This would work for me if SOMETHING was in focus...maybe the car in front of you with everything else blurred.

Love it. The title drew me to the picture more than the thumbnail. Very evocative.

very very blurry...

Not really sure where to start. Taken, if I'm any judge, from a moving car in poor light conditions. These are very dificult conditions to say the least. Unfortunately nothing is in focus. I'm not sure if this is because the subjects are all moving (relative to your stationary position in the car), or because of camera shake due to the longer shutter speed needed for the shot.

It will be interesting to review the comments on this photo, but I'll just simply join the crowd and say the pic is out of focus and leave it at that.

I like the idea, but it's just a little too blurry I think.

Too blur and chaotic

Forgive me for being terse. Don't like the blur. Uninteresting subject. Nice title.

I really love the contrast of lights and blue in this...it would make an amazing large print on a wall...the OOF adds to the atmosphere of cold and rain
