Whew....well I shouldn't have even have bothered but there are so few entries I put this in to make the others look good. Not exactly a crowd, you might say and I just know you will. It seemed that whenever I had the camera with me there were no crowds and when I didn't, there were hordes of people all about. Go figure.

This is one of my cab shots. I took it from the open window of a cab as we drove down Broad Street on my way to work. No crowd but Popeye looks to be quite a character and he reminds me a little of my paternal grandfather.

Post: Shot in landscape and cropped to portrait. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast, USM. I cloned out a small piece of a pylon that was in the original image to the left of the subject. Selected Popeye, increased the selection 10 pixels and feathered 10 as well. Inverted and gausian blurred the background (there was some blur in the original but not enought). Deselected and did some selective blurring around the subject.

Good job capturing the "feel" of the situation/setting.

Good shallow DOF to isolate your subject and well composed

DOF isolation is not used sufficiently, and, compositionally, this shot is very messy.

Smart to give him a name. He looks just a bit too crisp to me tho.

I assume that the DOF was done in post processing (but don't worry, it makes no difference to my score). I rather like the way he seems to float in space.... looks like quite the character, too.

The DOF here looks strange to my eye, like if it is a gaussian blur work.

Great composition, terrific subject, good challenge answer. The crowd's a little small but it works anyway :)
