Yes, we managed to get the wings out of the tree.
I followed the challenge guidelines, I think. My poor model had to pose in a crowd of skaters at Nathan Philips Square in downtown Toronto. I was hoping to isolate an onlooker from the crowd but clearly (IMHO) my models pose was the better shot.

The blurred effect was from the camera, although I did blurr a bit of the background in order to make it less distracting. I went to a black and white as well to eliminate distracting colours from the other peoples clothes.

Hope the voters are kind ... tough challenge.

I love this shot.
It's very simple yet extremely effetive. I love the concept, and the execution is timed so perfectly.
The lean of the model fits so well with the slope of the skaters back in the foreground.
Even if you posed everybody in shot again and again i doubt you could have managed the composition quite this well.

Ok...I love the angel shots, no matter what they just grab my attention and I remember seeing this one during the challenge.

Great placement in the Singled Out Challenge, I think 15th is excellent is such a hard category. I think black and white was an excellent choice in this piece it allows the viewers to focus on the subject and not get distracted by the foreground being bright or overpowering. I like the DOF, I think blurring the foreground was key to single out the subject itself. I think the ice rink also gives this piece just a little more as opposed to if you took it in a store or just out in town. I personally don't see anything I would change, I think you did excellent work and the votes are a pretty good reflection in this situation. Wonderful candid.

WHY?
That is the first question that springs to mind.
And if a photograph makes me ask a question then it makes it a good photograph.
Great use of black and white.
Scoring this a 9 at this point but i have a feeling i will raise that to a 10 if i return...
Great shot, well done.
Good luck in the challenge.

Nice candid, great use of shallow DOF to isolate your subject, interesting subject (don't often find angels walking around) I like the composition, well done

Great picture! Great sharpness on the angel. Only thing that could have made it better was if she was looking at the camera (definitely no points off for that). Nicely done.

I like when an almost-hidden, almost-obscure person is singled out. that plus black angel wings. How can you go wrong? 8.

Nice moment. I think that the out-of-focus people do not add anything to the shot, other than demonstrate how DOF works.

Amazing coincidence that you were able to get a CANDID shot of someone wearing angel wings that look just like the wings in the blue ribbon winner titled "Angel Flew Too Close To The Ground" in the Oops! II challenge.

I really like this picture. The subject has a sort of innocence about her. By framing the subject between the other skaters and by how much farther away she is it really gives her a sense of lonelyness. Maybe it's just me.

However, it also looks like the wings might not actually be part of the original picture. Then again they easily could be.
