Post challenge: Wow, thanks everyone for the great comments during and after the challenge! I came home tonight to find out about the events concerning this challenge and feel sorry for alithenake, Larus and yakatme: you all were amongst my favourite photos of this challenge...

Photographic details: As Azrifel guessed, this was shot in an area north of Amsterdam called The Beemster. Me and my girlfriend were visiting a friend of hers and I knew about this road, so when returning in the afternoon, we stopped to snap some pictures. There was a nice blue sky which I couldn't really maintain in post editing, I would have liked to have more gradient or maybe some clouds. But hey, wow, a red...

Post processing: lots of colour adjustments (see above), no USM, no NI ;-)

Thanks all for taking the time to vote and comment!

This is so boring. Terrible shot. It doesn't have any sense of symmetry or balance to it. And the DOF is pathetic....

10. Congrats on the ribbon forthcoming. In the least, this one deserves it.

8-really like this shot; my favorite so far in this challenge. Might I suggest a crop on the left and right to just outside the trunks of the first trees?

I really like this, but IMO I would have preferred a higher crop, and more negative space at top. A nice job, and good luck!

nice one
the b&w and the symmetry (nice rime,eh ;P) work really well here

The avenue of decidious trees really impact this monotone image. I also love the perspective lines which draws one eyes right to the centre of the horizon.....This is brillant.....

This is perhaps my favorite photograph of the competition. Excellent composition, perspective, and setting.
  Photographer found comment helpful.
01/20/2006 06:53:50 PM
Almost like a mirror, good find. I like the b&w presentation. I know it is toned, but I still call that b&w.

Very unique for a "road between the trees" photo. I like it very much!
  Photographer found comment helpful.
01/19/2006 11:55:32 AM
I wonder if this would be better cropped closer to the trees... as to me the fields are distracting and draw my eyes away.
  Photographer found comment helpful.
01/19/2006 07:35:56 AM
Would have been really good if you'd cropped the edges, both sides of the road are distracting, otherwise great shot, the channelling of the trees is very effecive. 7

NICE PHOTO.
I would have walked closer to the trees so the trunks frame the road. I like the sepia effect.
