An Axolotl, an aztec word meaning Sea Monster. This astonishing species is part of the family of ‘mole salamanders', but exhibits an unusual and extreme trait known as neoteny, or paedomorphosis. This is the retention of larval stage characteristics throughout life, so axolotls usually never fully resemble an adult salamander. Unlike other amphibians, most axolotl fail to metamorphose, living permanently in water.

I used to have one of those ugly little things. Quite the escape artist he was. Finally found his dried up little body on the floor one day. Very good crisp clear capture here from what I would believe is a fairly low light enviroment. Good Score!

OM Goodness!!! Not sure what it is but I want one!! lol This is so cute.
Some kinda of salamander? Very good close up - especially since shooting through glass is not the easiest to pull off. Nice DOF
