6 chopped tomatoes
1 red onion diced
1/2 white onion diced
3 garlic clovees
2 bell peppers diced (red, green or yellow)
handful of Coriander (cilantro in the US?) chopped
juice of 1/2 lime
juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
4 to 5 jalapenos, diced
A few birds-eye chilies chopped
A few finger chillies chopped
SECRET INGREDIENT: Frozen Chillies! chopped (add an extra dimension of HOT)

Had a great time doing this. Just got a new (well second hand...) sigma ef500 dg st flash. I know its pretty basic, but I'm having a blast playing with it. Shot this on manual, just kept taking test shots until the exposure was about right. Shot in the kitchen sink! Wanted a blue background, so used an old T-shirt, but it looked BAD so used a sheet of A3 paper, taped to the wall then wetted so it didnt show splashes. Took about 30 shots, found it hard to get the focus spot on, everythings fine until the tap comes on then the AF goes nuts, I can't use manual as my hand kept moving. Shame I couldnt clone out so irritating droplets, but still.
Am pretty happy with this shot, but I think i'll get knocked down for my focus, the fact the chilis are going off a bit, the nasty shadows at the bottom and the fact it isnt really a proper 'dish' - but try it! it'll blow your socks off!

WOW!!! I am so chuffed! I'm really surprised it this did so well, thank-you for all the kind comments and votes. Its a great way to start the new year, i feel all inspired now! (I was beginning to think my 1st was a fluke!)

Excellent image but the harshness of the whites throws me. Composition excellent, color cast excellent but the harsh colors put me off a little. 6 - may bump later - good luck in the challenge!
At last some movement. The image makes me think of freshness, coolness and heat (all at the same time) and creates a connection between food and those that prepare and eventually eat it. I like it.
This photo has it all- the quality, the sharpness, the colors, the lighting and a good angle. I will be quite happy if it wins, although I'm in the challenge!! GOOD LUCKKKKKK
Compared to many others, you made this shot stand out very much. I originally gave this a 7, but I'll bump you up to an 8. You chose well on contrast. Great use of shutter speed and lighting. Heck your composition is great. I'll change this to a 9. It's almost flawless, it really is. I guess what made me not give you a 10 is because the white above the hand is just too much. Best of luck in getting a ribbon. I'm routing for you at least.
