Purple has a lot of blue in it :-)

Hi.
With respect to your post in the "Title Importance" thread in the forums: Your title confused me because I perceived the hue as purple. As for mood, I kept wondering whether you referred to post-partum depression. I wouldn't make the connection you mentioned because Mint Schnapps is not a common-enough drink - wine or beer might have done a better job. But the connection itself is valid - getting drunk-> getting pregnant - maybe something like 'Consequences' or 'Regrets' might have put your meaning across?. It was an interesting shot with funky colors. Better luck next time.

(or maybe 'A Nine-Month Hangover')

Sue

And others, First the figuine is a small one, the poster is in fact a pint bottle of snapps. The label not a poster is only about four inches tall. My thought here is that for many young woman becoming a mother is a direct result of drinking, the loss of better judgement. I was in no means putting anyone down just one aspect of life and its consequences. Thank You for taking the time to ask. The back lighting was in fact blue giving the overall color of the shot. Colors were not changed. I cropped a little to tighten the subject and removed a couple of harsh highlights. I also worked on levels a little. My title Blue is due to the color and the moode of a woman finding out she is with child and worried about what is to come.

Hi Greg, greetings from the Critique Club.

First impressions. Such a unique take on this challenge. This shot is really interesting, I like the composition, and the colours are fantastic. The more I study it the more I see.

Lighting on this shot is superb, gives a warmth and depth to the figurine. I like the way she is offset to the poster, the hint of the blue on her back and head. Can't make any comments on the editing as none is described in the photographer comment area.

Does it meet the challenge...well yes, inclusion of the pregnant figurine means you have met the challenge, but not sure of her connection with the poster......of what you are trying to say. I'm trying, but I don't understand.......

And, I think that is a good part of the reason you got the mark you got. Many of the voters like the connection between subject and image to be clear. This is not to say that this is how it should be, we need images that challenge us, make us think.....different interpretations.

There is something about this shot that really appeals to me...... I don't understand it, but I like it!

The colors in this are interesting, but I keep trying to figure out what the connection is between the poster and the pregnant figurine. It feels like I'm missing something. Perhaps Dr. McGillicuddy Schnapps increases fertility?

I guess I'm not sure about why I'm looking at menthol schnapps? Is it a home remedy? 5

Your lighting and use of colour are exceptional. The emotional impact of the image is really sublime. It speaks to me on a cultural as well as a personal level. Good Luck with the challenge.

The composition needs a little work. The subject matter could have been better. The image quality is ok. Has potential of being really creative. - 4

I have no idea what to think about this. I don't see the relevance of the the statue to the poster or the color blue. 3

what am i missing here? the pregnant mother is sad because the father is remote, preferring his dog and his schnapps? perhaps the baby is illegitimate and she feels shut out of the gentile life?
