New fisheye! My friend, David, jumps over a trashcan from a four stair. He must have been going at least 15-20 MPH, which is very fast for a skater. Used 1 flash off camera, had a second set up, you can see in the background, but turned it off because it just got in the way without doing much.

I like the shot quite a bit... but would have used a second curtain sync with the flash - cause now it looks like he is going backwards. Otherwise a great shot.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

I feel just like I am flipping through a skateboarding magazine when I see your picture. It deff has the quality to be published in one of those "Best Photo's of the Year" issues. Anywho...on to the critique...

First off I'll start with what I think could be improved on. One of the major flaws of this image for me is the shadow of the photographer. I just find this distracts from the image overall. Other than that...there's not much I would change about your photo. The lighting is a little harsh, but there's not much you could of done about that since it was taken at night and all. Also, it usually is a general rule of thumb that if you have a person or object in motion, you want to place it at the beginning of the frame. That is to say...if you have a person running left, you want to place them on the right side of the frame. Although...I like the composition of your photo, it shows more of where he has been than where he is going. I think it works here. Which leads me to...

...what I like about your photo; I love the fisheye effect, it adds that skater "feel" to it. I like your composition, I think that the kid sitting in the background adds to the image rather than taking away form it like posted in an earlier comment. Your focus is great...especially considering how fast he was moving. The colors are wonderful...althouh I would like to see a B&W version...just for fun.

Overall fantastic picture...and I think that your score reflects this. Keep up the good work!

Caleb

Cool how the distortion helps to create a feeling of motion.

My favorite part of your photo is the skate boarders shadow on the wall. Nice action capture.

Nice stop action. Love the shadow in the background. The distortion also added to the motion of the image. The only thing I didn't like was the person sitting in the background. I think it interfered with the impact of an otherwise terrific picture.

Good high actionsubject, great lens and then awesome comositions with nice subdued golden tones. Bumping up. This is perhaps the most exciting image in this challenge.

Not bad of a use of a fisheye lense but I would have changed the white balance a bit (if you have that option) and cool the picture down a little.

That is just an amazing stop action photo. To get such sharpness of a moving object. . .at night! Congratulations.

it looks like he might've landed it... who is that on the right in the shadow the video guy?its a bit distracting. it feels like hes about to leave the frame it would work better with some space in front of him...imho
